Code, Train, Protect: Essential Strategies for Life Science AI and Software

Join us for a dive into the critical considerations of using open-source tools and ensuring compliance both for academic and commercial applications. Following this, participants will break into smaller groups to discuss life science software cases and challenges and receive feedback from business developers from VIS’ technology transfer team. This is also a great opportunity to discuss your own project.

Bli med på FRIPRO-workshop!

Som et bidrag til å styrke søknader til FRIPRO, lanserer UiB denne våren «FRIPRO-løftet»: En serie med to workshops og en NFR-FRIPRO-søknadslesedag.

Tiltakene tar sikte på å ruste UiB-forskere med de nødvendige verktøyene for å øke sjansene for å få tilslag.

Workshopene retter seg til forskere på alle karrieretrinn, og som vurderer å søke støtte fra FRIPRO ved Norges forskningsråd.

Gjennom workshops, interaktive sesjoner og case-studier, vil Forsknings- og innovasjonsavdelingen – sammen med lokale rådgivere – tilby praktisk opplæring for å forstå begrepene «impact» og «implementering» i FRIPRO-sammenheng.

FRIPRO-løftet består av tre deler:

Adaptive Immunity All you should know

Bergen Research School in Inflammation and the Broegelmann Research Laboratory presents the advanced immunology course/workshop: HUIMM905 – Advanced Immunology (3 credits ECTS) with leading theme : “Adaptive Immunity, All you should know!”

Targeted audience: Master, PhD students, post docs, clinicians interested in immunology or those looking to update their immunological knowledge. The workshop has a number of international and local experts in adaptive immunity in infection, cancer and autoimmunity, and includes networking lunches and dinners, flash talks and a poster session.

Invited speakers include Carmen Gerlach, Alexander Espinosa, Søren Egedal Degn, Bergithe Eikeland Oftedal, Anette Susanne Bøe Wolff, Salwa Suliman, Sonia Gavasso, Yenan Bryceson, Corelia Schuster and Mai Chi Trieu.

No fee for master and PhD students!

Det medisinske fakultet inviterer alle ph.d.-kandidater til arbeidsverksted om “Hvordan skrive en god prosjektsøknad”.

Workshopen vil gi ph.d.-kandidater innen medisin og realfag et løft for å starte tidlig med sitt fremtidige forskningsprosjekt. Deltakerne vil få innsikt i det internasjonale finansieringslandskapet og utvikle praktisk kunnskap ved å jobbe med sitt eget prosjektforslag. Målgruppe: Ph.d.-kandidater ved Det medisinske fakultet som ønsker å kickstarte sin akademiske karriere i nærmeste fremtid.

CodeRefinery workshop

March 12-14 and 19-21, 2024

  • This time we plan to start Git and GitHub from the web interface and only later move to the command line.
  • We offer the two workshop weeks as two blocks but you can sign up for both or just one.
  • Week 1 is tuned for exercises and group work. Week 2 will focus on demonstrations and discussions.
  • We are updating and simplifying the install instructions. We recommend to only go through them in the week before the workshop starts, but not earlier.

PhD Grant Writing Workshop

The Faculty of Medicine invites all PhD-candidates to a workshop on «How to write a successful grant proposal».

The workshop will enable PhD-candidates in medicine and sciences to start early with their future research project. Participants will gain insight into the international funding landscape and develop hands-on knowledge by working on their own project proposal.

Datathon i Bergen/ Eitri 16.- 19. september

Eitri arrangerer et «datathon» 16. september til 19. september.

  • Det er enormt mye verdi i helsedata som samles inn i sykehussettinger, men ikke så mange som tar disse dataene i bruk. Målet for datathonet er å få med seg helsepersonell, medisinere og dataforskere til å sitte sammen en helg for å bruke disse dataene for å løse ulike problemer innenfor sykehuset, sier daglig leder for Eitri, Thorleif Markussen Lunde.

Leo Celi fra MIT kommer for å fasilitere denne workshopen.

Horizon Europe Inspiration Workshop Scandic Ørnen Hotell,  May 13th, 2022

The programme begins with a brief overview of the different types of funding available for research, innovation, career and networking in Horizon Europe and Erasmus + and how to find them.

Researchers and research advisers from UiB share their experiences in talks and panel debates on network building, team building and proposal writing.

Mingling sessions: Throughout the day, there will be open stations where researchers can get advice and help from research advisers to find funding opportunities within their research field or interest, or ask questions about Horizon Europe and Erasmus +.

Som en oppfølging av Horizon Europe info day @UiB 14. januar arrangeres det en Horizon Europe Inspiration worskhop på Scandic Hotel Ørnen fredag den 13. mai fra kl.  09.30 til kl. 15.00.

Forskere og forskningsrådgivere fra UiB deler sine erfaringer i innlegg og paneldebatter om nettverksbygging, teambygging og søknadsskriving.

Minglesesjoner:  Gjennom hele dagen blir det åpne stands der forskere kan få råd og hjelp fra forskningsrådgivere til å finne finansieringsmuligheter innenfor sitt forskningsfelt, eller stille spørsmål om Horisont Europa og Erasmus+.

CodeRefinery workshop

What: CodeRefinery workshop
When: 22-24 & 29-31 March

In this online course, you will become familiar with tools and best practices for version control and reproducibility in modern research software development. The main focus is on using Git for efficiently writing and maintaining research software.

This is an informal and interactive online event with type-along type of presentations, live coding, and demos. Short tutorials alternate with practical exercises.

GPU Programming with OpenACC

What: GPU Programming

Registration is open for a 1-day hands-on physical course for Introductory GPU Programming with OpenACC. The course is designed for beginners in GPU-programming who want to get familiar with available directives programming models with a special focus on the OpenACC offloading.

NRIS HPC On-boarding User Course

What: NRIS HPC On-boarding User Course 
When: 4 – 5 May 2022

Are you planning to use our e-infrastructure services soon? Have you been using these services already, but would like to make sure you are getting the most out of them? Then this NRIS High Performance Computing On-boarding course is intended for you!

Who can join? 
The course is aimed at students, researchers, and employees of any background. We assume no prior knowledge of what HPC is or how to use it.

For those who have little experience with UNIX-like operating systems such as Linux, or who have never worked on the command line of a terminal, we will offer a hands-on pre-course about UNIX a day before the HPC course.
