Announcement from the Norwegian Cancer Society

The Cancer Society’s annual main call for research funding for positions and operation is announced. You can now apply for support for researcher initiated cancer research projects in any research field. The projects are usually in the categories basal research, translational research, clinical research, epidemiologic research, health and social research or alternative/complementary research, but any application for cancer related research will be considered.

The application deadline is Monday June 2nd 2014, at 13:00. The Cancer Society will only accept applications sent electronically via the application portal.

Please keep in mind that the system of short-term clinical grants is now extended to all professions whose main position is in the clinic. Moreover, it is now possible to apply for a free position for a longer period than before, up to one year (full time).

NB! Applications to the Norwegian Cancer Society must be approved by the institute. The reason for this is that only projects approved in advance by the institute will get a refund for the contribution margin from the faculty.

The 18th Broegelmann Lecture

BrøgelmannProfessor Hans-Gustaf Ljunggren will hold the 18th Broegelmann Lecture with the title «Insights on the molecular specificity and biological function of NK cells». The lecture will be held on Friday May 16, 13:00-14:00, in the Main Auditorium (Store Auditorium), Haukeland University Hospital.

Alumni Days May 9-10 2014

University of Bergen invites for the first time to Alumni Days Friday 9th and Saturday 10th of May. It will be an eventful weekend with academic replenishment, happy reunion and social activities at the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, and the entire University. How to get started on E-learning

Eva GerdtsThere is a need for the implementation of new, student activating teaching methods.  This will be the main topic of this year’s Exam and teaching seminar which will be arranged on Wednesday 17.09.14 at Hotel Terminus.  Remember to set aside the date now!

The medical faculties in Norway are cooperation on a national platform for e-learning resources. Harald Wiker is our contact person for the development of e-learning resources both in DIGUiB and towards the national e-learning platform.  As a starting point all lecturers are encouraged to contact the IT department at brita and apply for access to the program Camtasia Relay.  With this program you may create video-recordings for e-learning at your own PC.  Dean of Education, Arne Tjølsen, has created a user manual (in Norwegian).
