Both UiB centrally and the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry (MOF) have a strong focus on the use of digital methods in teaching

Eva GerdtsBoth UiB centrally and the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry (MOF) have a strong focus on the use of digital methods in teaching. We are going to implement e-learning methods and digital exams.  At K2’s Exam and Teaching Seminar autumn 2014 the production of video segments and digital lectures was discussed.  Subsequent to the seminar, many of us have discovered that our MOF work place is equipped with PC’s without camera, microphone or loudspeakers.  In order to improve on this, MOF has now equipped the guidance office in Armauer Hansen’s Hus with a suitable PC containing the software Teachsmith/Camtasia Relay which may be used for screen recordings.  This is available for all lecturers.  Please contact Eirik Dalheim at MOF if you wish to use the equipment to make files for your teaching.

UiB has, together with UiO and UiA, decided to obtain the exam system “Inspera Assessment”, which will be used to carry out digital exams. In addition to traditional essay writing, this system also supports multiple choice and other types of questions.  The program may also be used for automatic grading of such questions.  At the program council seminar in February, digital exams will be one of the topics discussed, and courses will be offered lecturers in charge of courses who wish to implement digital exams.  If you are responsible for a course and wish to implement digital exams in spring 2015, please notify your contact person in the Academic Administration by 20.01.15.
