Do you/your research group/research group know anyone who has excelled in 2022, either on the research front (publication, research environment, PhD work, dissemination), as an innovation environment or in terms of teaching? The Faculty of Medicine has announced a number of prizes for 2022, so now you have the chance to nominate colleagues/environment (or yourself!). The categories are
- Publication of the Year (NOK 100 000)
- Research environment of the year (NOK 150 000)
- PhD work of the year (NOK 75 000)
- Dissemination award (NOK 75 000)
- Innovation award (NOK 150 000)
- Education Award (up to three awards for outstanding initiatives in education, a main prize of NOK 150,000 and up to two more prizes of NOK 50,000 each!)
We from K2 can put forward one candidate in each category, so do not hesitate to submit proposals (with supplementary reasons) by Monday 6 February. More detailed information can be found here.

MIC is happy to announce a basic course in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of small animals, with the aim of giving the participants knowledge on the principles, the theory and practical use of MRI.
The theoretical part of the course will cover multimodal imaging and the theoretical aspects of MRI. The participants will get hands on practical training on the instruments in the practical part and learn about basic image analysis of MR images.
After the course, the participants should be able to understand how to plan and perform MRI experiments on small animals.

Nordic Innovation will fund a project with the aim to demonstrate a concrete solution utilizing the context-rich information provided in patient journals records across Nordic countries in solving healthcare challenges.
Nordic Innovation will fund the development and demonstration of an ethical AI-based solution, capable of reading patient records across the Nordic countries, Nordic languages and different medical health record systems.

The UiB University Library continues its popular Open Science seminar series in spring 2023 with a number of webinars on Research Data Management and Scholarly Communication.
Both the Research Council of Norway and Horizon Europe assess Open Science in research proposals and experts at the library can support you with navigating the Open Science landscape and adopting practices.

Peder Sather Center for Advanced Study is a collaboration between UC Berkeley and 8 Norwegian universities. Every year, the center supports projects carried out by researchers at UC Berkeley in collaboration with researchers from the Norwegian universities.
Grants can support activities such as workshops, mini-conferences, virtual intellectual exchanges, the undertaking of exploratory and pilot studies, activities such as PhD student exchanges, longer-term stays for Principal Investigators, the collection and analysis of data, and other core research activities.
Every year we host a tax seminar for international employees to assist with understanding and filling the tax report in Norway. The seminar is held in English by tax lawyers. It will take place around march/April, we will confirm the date later. You can sign up here.

The European Innovation Council (EIC) and the European Medicine Agency (EMA) will jointly hold a webinar on ‘Regulatory Support for the Development of Innovative Medicines and Technologies‘. The main aim is to inform researchers and SMEs active in research and innovation in the pharmaceutical and med-tech sectors about the wide range of EMA’s support services available and how to access them.
