From Sammen: "Buddy Patrol Scheme"

"Buddy Patrol Scheme": Throughout Welcome Week

The Buddy Patrol Scheme is important for ensuring a successful Welcome Week. Last year, many of our colleagues at the University of Bergen (UiB) volunteered as buddy patrols and helped create a safe and enjoyable experience for new students.

UiB wants this year’s Welcome Week to be a positive experience as well. We are therefore looking for volunteer colleagues to serve as buddy patrols and help ensure a safe and welcoming atmosphere during the week. Volunteers walk around the city in groups of approximately four patrol members, observing and making sure that students in town are having a good time. Volunteers will wear reflective vests in the city centre from approximately 10:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. during Welcome Week (10-15 August). Buddy patrols are intended to provide support, but they do not replace public services.

We encourage all colleagues to volunteer as buddy patrols. It is both enjoyable and social, and it is very important for UiB as a whole. If you would like to contribute, you can register here: Registration for the Buddy Patrol Scheme 2026. Påmelding til faddervaktordningen 2026.
