Each lesson lasts approximately 45 minutes, with a 15-minute break.
You will learn basic life-saving first aid.
The course and course materials follow recognized national guidelines.

An important part of research education is that PhD candidates and post-docs build networks, challenge themselves through presentations of their own research, and critically evaluate others’ research. I take this opportunity to highlight the two research schools at K2, which serve as important platforms for this. We have the Postgraduate School of Clinical Medical Research and the Bergen Research School in Inflammation (BRSI). Both hold regular meetings where candidates present their data and analyses, and they also organize courses. Both the courses and seminar series provide credits in the PhD program.
BRSI is organized by the Broegelmann Research Lab. The research school offers courses in immunological subjects tailored to doctoral candidates.
The Research School for Clinical Medicine is a collaboration between K1, K2, and Haukeland University Hospital. If you are a PhD/postdoc at K2 and do not regularly receive emails about their courses and seminars, you can contact adrianna.jebrzycka@uib.no to join. The school also hosts an annual poster/presentation competition for posters presented at conferences in the preceding year.
Clinical Medicine Research | BRSI |
FSKLI901 – Seminar in clinical and translational medicine (1ECT) | HUIMM320 – Basic Immunology (5 ECTS) |
GCP901 – Good clinical practice (ICH-GCP) for PhD candidates (1ECTS) | HUIMM901 – Project seminars in Immunology (3 ECTS) |
RMED901 – Data science with R for medical researchers (2ECTS) | HUIMM902 – Journal club and watch (3 ECTS) |
HUIMM306A/906A – Molecular and cellular methods in immunology (8 ECTS)
HUIMM905 – Advanced Immunology course, variable theme (3 ECTS)
HUIMM307 – Basic course in Flow Cytometry (5 ECTS) |
Additionally, the Faculty of Medicine is a partner in several national research schools that may be relevant to the research topics at K2. These schools offer excellent opportunities for courses and broader networking both in Norway and internationally.
UiB-Service Development Pop-ups 2025: Alrek Health Cluster
In April and May, UiB-Service Development invites you to a series of pop-up workshops on campus.
20.05.2025 – 09.00–11.30 Alrek health cluster
Pop-up workshops are short, practical courses where you learn methodologies that will improve the way you work and collaborate with others. In this series, there are six different workshops offered: About keys to collaboration, about limitations as an innovative driving force, about testing and experimentation, about facilitation and meeting management, about continuous improvement work in practice and an introductory course to service development. The workshops last 45-60 minutes each and are held at three different locations at UiB. The workshops are open to all employees.

Roadmap for Research Infrastru4 June 2:00–3:00 PM
Before we announce new funding under the National Research Infrastructure Initiative, we are updating the roadmap, which serves as a guide for applicants. The next announcement is planned for November 2025.
We invite you to a feedback meeting for the thematic area of health in part 2 of the roadmap. We would like feedback on whether we have clearly described the need for research infrastructure in this field, or whether there are important gaps that we have not identified.
The meeting starts with a short introduction. Afterwards, participants will have the opportunity to make short, oral contributions (3-5 min) about the roadmap.
If you do not get what you want during the meeting, you can send written contributions in the chat (max. 2 pages). We encourage institutions to coordinate their contributions.
The Portfolio Board for the Research System will adopt the updated roadmap at its meeting on September 17, 2025.
The Pandemic Center at the University of Bergen, in collaboration with NOVA University Lisboa, Bielefeld University, and Erasmus University Rotterdam, is excited to announce an upcoming online course with mobility option titled Preparedness for Health Crises: A Multidisciplinary Approach in fall 2025
This course will draw on lessons learned from the COVID-19 pandemic and other current crises to teach preparedness for future health threats. It is accessible to students from all backgrounds, study fields, and cycles (elective, master, and PhD students).
When? September-October 2025, culminating in a one-week session in Bergen from October 27th to 31st
May 7, 2025
Location: Litteraturhuset in Bergen – Bergen
Time: 08.30-09.15
With a genetic test, you can get information about hereditary characteristics and disease risks. Such tests are important for diagnosing and treating disease. At the same time, the use of genetic tests raises several questions and difficult issues. How are genetic tests used in Norwegian hospitals today? What genetic information should be shared? And who should have the right to access information about hereditary diseases in their family?
Senior consultant Ida Wiig Sørensen from the Department of Medical Genetics at Haukeland University Hospital and member of the Biotechnology Council, discusses these questions in an exciting lecture at Litteraturhuset in Bergen.
Dear everyone,
I begin the editorial with two good news:
K2 has got its first merited teacher! Congratulations to Aase Raddum, who has been awarded the status of merited teacher.
Also this week, Simona Chera was awarded a NFR Fripro project for groundbreaking research, congratulations!
The year can continue like this 😊
Finally, I would like to remind you of the FAMU survey that has a response deadline on Sunday (April 13th). Working environment surveys are an important part of the university’s systematic work on health, safety and the environment (HSE). It is therefore important that as many people as possible respond to the survey!
It is important to clarify that the questionnaire is anonymous, the answers cannot be traced back to the individual.
This is how anonymity is safeguarded even with floor-by-floor divisions at K2:
When the survey has been completed, you will be invited to participate in the follow-up work aimed at implementing measures where needed. It is important to emphasise that the results are presented in such a way that no individual can be recognised. No managers or others at UiB will have access to the individual’s answers. The data material is incorporated into a permanent database at NTNU This makes it possible for the faculty to compare results over time (you can read about ARK here: www.ntnu.no/ark).
Have a great weekend and happy Easter!
Silke
