Trump attacks science. What can we do?

10.04.2025 – 08.30–10.00
Good Bread Christie

All knowledge development that the new rulers do not like must be stopped. Research areas are being closed down, employees are being laid off, data is being removed.

The institutions are being forced to self-censor in line with long lists of banned words. Troublesome individuals risk deportation or entry bans. This concerns us, quite directly: Much of the research at UiB is closely intertwined with collaboration with the United States. But what can we do? Boycott forums where we cannot express ourselves freely without harming our American co-authors? Invest in knowledge storage and infrastructure under European auspices? Offer asylum to persecuted colleagues?
