ORPHEUS Student Workshop

“The role of student-representation on the establishment and operation of doctoral programs”
on Friday – March 11th, 2016 from 3.30 p.m. – 6.00 p.m.
Our workshop addresses to students who are interested in learning more about the important role of students in doctoral programs. We will discuss potential topics from the viewpoint of students that are of importance and should be integrated in doctoral programs. We will elucidate, if and how the establishment of a student-representation could play an important role to bring forward student related issues. To initiate our discussion, we are pleased to announce following guest speakers who will share their experience.

* Kasper Pryds (Chairman – PhD Association of the Medical Faculty, Univ. Aarhus, Denmark)
* Nathalie Neubert (PhD Representative – Ludwig Center for Cancer Research, Univ. of Lausanne, Switzerland)
* Bernhard Schermer (Professor and Head of the Nephrology Lab, Univ. Hospital Cologne, Germany)
Our goal is to develop a concept paper focusing on important points and plans for the establishment and implementation of Student Association as part of a doctoral program. The main structural features and requirements that are required to successfully operating a Student Association will be discussed. The concept paper may serve as a starting point providing useful information of the importance and benefit for the integration of Student Associations in doctoral education programs.
