The joint call for applications for autumn 2026 has now been published. A total of eight PhD positions are available: Four open positions Four positions reserved for students enrolled in the Medical Student Research Programme

 In addition, three open postdoctoral positions are being advertised.

Please circulate these vacancy announcements and links to relevant and interested candidates.

The project will establish new on-call rooms, validation rooms, and workspaces on the second floor of the atrium in the Laboratory Building. Unfortunately, this will require the atrium to be closed off, currently estimated for the period 10 August to 15 November. The recommended route between the Central Block and the Laboratory Building is via the pedestrian bridge leading to the third floor of the Laboratory Building.

Please note that some noise and dust should be expected during the construction period.

The physical access points and functions located in the east and west sections of the second floor will remain open and accessible.

The glass elevator will occasionally be taken out of service.

The construction project will use the freight elevator in the west wing for the transport of equipment and waste.

The north entrance (2nd floor) will be used for certain larger deliveries.

Any works requiring short-term service interruptions (such as sprinklers, drainage systems, power shutdowns, etc.) will be coordinated with all affected parties.

The construction project will take place in close proximity to ongoing daily operations. Early in the construction phase, an opening will be made in the glass façade facing the Analysis Hall, and a barrier separating the construction site from operational areas will be established. In addition, work such as cable installation and related activities will take place in the southeast corner of the Analysis Hall to establish the necessary connections to the extension in the atrium.

The Faculty of Medicine now invites its teaching staff to apply for designation as an Excellent Teaching Practitioner (ETP). This status is awarded to academic staff who have demonstrated significant efforts to ensure educational quality in a broad sense. The title awarded is “Excellent Teaching Practitioner.”

Who can apply?
Academic staff in all position categories with teaching obligations may apply, with the exception of PhD candidates, postdoctoral fellows, and specialist candidates. Only individuals may apply for distinguished status.
To be considered, applicants must have been employed in a teaching position for at least five years and must be able to document basic pedagogical competence.

Applications should be submitted by email to post@uib.no and marked “Søknad om status som merittert underviser ved Det medisinske fakultet.” The application deadline is 1 November 2026.

Evaluation
Applications will be assessed by an expert committee appointed by the faculty. Selected candidates will be invited to an interview. The Faculty Board determines who is awarded ETP-status, and the final decision will be ready by the Faculty Day in spring 2027.

Upcoming application periods
This is the fifth time ETP has been announced. The scheme is advertised every other year, with the next call expected in 2028. A call for applications will be distributed in advance of each application period.
