Scientists have created the first map of lipid transport in cells

Lipids build the membranes that surround the cell and separate its internal compartments from each other. This is what gives each compartment in the cell its own identity and makes normal cell function possible. For this system to work, lipids must constantly be transported precisely between different membranes. This is a process that scientists have long had limited understanding of.

The research program is seeking new research projects and supervisors for cohort 25.

The research program at the Faculty of Medicine is currently recruiting students from the 2025 cohort for admission in the fall of 2026. The faculty encourages research communities to submit project proposals that are suitable for the research program, and reminds that the students are motivated, but often without previous research experience and therefore need close follow-up at the beginning.

The new Innovation Center for Neuroresilience (ICoN) will shift the focus from treatment to prevention of neurodegenerative diseases.
