Through ten years as a Center for Excellence (CFE), CCBIO contributed to more precise treatments by researching the biological characteristics of cancer and the environment around cancer cells.
"The results from CCBIO range from basic biological discoveries to direct influence on clinical guidelines and national health policy. For example, findings on the spread of cancer cells in breast cancer patients have been incorporated into national guidelines for breast cancer treatment, and a new type of treatment for pancreatic cancer has resulted in significant improvements in survival."
