There has been a security incident that affected the cloud service Canvas LMS on May 1, 2026. It is reported that personal data has been compromised. UiB's learning platform Mitt UiB is not affected by the incident.

The University of Bergen has decided to postpone further progress in the project for the introduction of a new Learning Management System (LMS). The project will introduce a new cloud-based Canvas solution. The background is the ongoing assessment of the security situation at the supplier of Canvas.

In connection with the appointment of Aud Jebsen as a new honorary doctor at UiB, we invite you to a conversation on May 20th about the importance of foundations for research in Norway – with particular emphasis on the KG Jebsen Foundation. We have also invited pianist Leif Ove Andsnes who will contribute with musical performances during the event.

Dear everyone!
A lot is happening at the moment, so this will be a slightly longer leader this time. We had a very nice good-bye party for Mia on Wednesday, it was very nice that there were so many who participated. Thank you so much to Mia for everything she has done for K2! And then I would like to welcome our new acting head of administration Eirik Rekve Thorsheim. He has an office on the 8th floor of the lab building and has started on Monday. We will take a tour of the department in the next few days so that he can get to know our employees (at least in Bergen, the trips to Stavanger, Førde and Haugesund will come).
Nina had already mentioned that the faculty, together with the department management, has appointed a financial working group, coordinated by Rolf Reed. A general meeting will be held for the entire department on May 28 at 10-11:30, Auditorium 1 BBB, I hope that as many employees as possible participate and provide input.
Remember to register your holiday! The deadline to register the main holiday was 1 May, but there are still many who have not applied for the holiday. Remember that it must be agreed with your immediate manager.
UiB is concerned that the number of applications to NFR FRIPRO has decreased and has therefore distributed some funds for application support. The condition is that the application is submitted by 2026. Otherwise, there are no guidelines on what the funds can be used for, but the project must be placed at K2 in order to be able to request application support. The link to the skjemaker becomes visible when you click on "read more".
And last, but not least: Congratulations to all the award winners on the faculty day, and special congratulations to our award winners from K2: Nina Langeland (Falch senior award), Jan-Inge Bjune (publication of the year) and Jon Andsnes Berg and Trond Trætteberg Serkland (education award). I'm proud to have such good people around me!
Have a really good weekend!
Silke

We warmly welcome Eirik to Clinical Department 2 as Head of Administration.
Eirik began as Head of Administration on May 1, and is acting until the end of the year. Eirik has a master's degree in Comparative Politics from the University of Bergen, and has worked as a study leader at the Department of Informatics.
In his free time, you can often find him in the city mountains, or else he might be at home with a good book.
Eirik has taken over Mia's office on the 8th floor, and you are most welcome to stop by for a chat!

«Dette fantastiske, som du snart skal møte og få se, er så lett å miste av syne, og det finnes nesten like mange måter å gjøre det på som det finnes mennesker. Det er derfor jeg skriver denne boken til deg. Jeg vil vise deg verden, slik den er, rett rundt oss, hele tiden. Bare ved å gjøre det kan jeg selv få øye på den.»
