Research project for BIO

One research project from UiB has received funding: 12 million to Andreas Borchel at the Department of Life Sciences for the project Deciphering Nutrient Uptake Mechanisms in Salmon Louse Oocytes for Gene Editing and Treatment Development.

Two research schools receive up to NOK 16 million each

Four new research schools and 19 research networks is now receiving support to follow up on recently completed subject evaluations. Two of the research schools belong to the NT faculty:

The research school ChemSchool – Norwegian Graduate School in Chemistry will strengthen doctoral education in chemistry by offering interdisciplinary education that will provide fellows with the competence and skills that academia, the department sector and business need to meet the challenges facing society. The research school is led by UiB with a number of partners. 

The research school Research School for Computational Life Sciences in Norway will strengthen doctoral education in computational life sciences by focusing on modern computational methods, including artificial intelligence, that are relevant to fields in life sciences that have a high need for computational modeling or data analysis. This includes data related to human health, from epidemiology to omics to drug design, but also questions arising in fisheries and microbiology, to name a few. The research school is led by UiB with a number of partners.

Network

Two research networks at NT will also receive up to two million kroner: Norwegian Network for Organic Chemistry and MattNorVeg: Algebra-Geometry-Analysis with Applications.
