One Ocean Week (OOW) will take place for the fourth time from 18 to 24 April 2026. As one of the main partners in One Ocean Bergen, UiB has been strongly represented in the first three years and will step up its efforts further in 2026. The Bergen City Council and the partners in Bergen have a common goal that Bergen will attract an international ocean conference at the UN level in 2030. UiB will actively contribute to achieving this goal.
In this regard, an internal working group has been established, led by Vice-Rector Kjell-Morten Myhr, who will organize the central OOW activities at UiB and collaboration with both local, national and international partners. In addition, we know from experience that a number of academic communities at UiB will hold their own events during OOW.
To help the working group in its planning, ideas and input from the academic community are therefore sought. Researchers, teachers, students and technical and administrative staff are all welcome to contribute with suggestions. We encourage you to provide input that is related to UN Decade of Ocean Science and the seven so-called ‘Ocean Decade Outcomes’.
Based on the input received, the working group will move forward with a selected number of these and connect administrative resources that can assist the professional community with further planning. Financial support will also be provided to hold events during One Ocean Week.
