We in the microbiology research group on the 5th floor are organizing a Journal Club with the theme of microbiology (and related topics). We hope to be able to do this regularly, and until Christmas we will hold the journal club every Tuesday in room 5.1 in the lab building, in even-numbered weeks.

This Tuesday we read and discuss the article about medication history as a hidden underlying factor in microbiome studies, A hidden confounder for microbiome studies: medications used years before sample collection (Aasmets O, Taba N, Krigul KL, Andreson R, , Org E. 2025).

This Tuesday we read and discuss how sequencing depth affects the identification of species and genes and their composition in metagenome samples, The impact of sequencing depth on the inferred taxonomic composition and AMR gene content of metagenomic samples (Gweon et. al. 2019).
