CCBIO Junior Scientist Symposium: First gathering of the year on 10 March

CCBIO invites you to the first Junior Scientist Symposium of the year, which will take place on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM in Nucleus, the main hall in Eitri (9th floor), Haukeland University Hospital. The symposium brings together young researchers from various fields and provides opportunities for professional enrichment, interdisciplinary discussions and networking.

Keynote: Predictive cancer signatures in the urothelium

This year's keynote will be held by Dr. Luiza Mihaela Ghila, who will present the talk "Decoding the predictive cancer signatures in the urothelium." She will highlight molecular characteristics of the urothelium and discuss how these can contribute to a better understanding of cancer prediction and progression.

Presentations from young researchers

The keynote will be followed by four academic presentations from junior researchers at the faculty:

  • Amalie Isabel Merkesvik: "Universal Health Coverage of Lung Interventions: A Health Economic Evaluation of Six Treatments Across 82 Low- and Lower-Middle-Income Countries" – a health economic evaluation of lung cancer interventions in low- and lower-middle-income countries.
  • Dewaki Chhetri: "Rethinking Limbal Stem Cell Deficiency" – new perspectives on limbal stem cell deficiency and clinical implications.
  • Palesa Mamohaw Pilo Chabunya: "Outcomes of breast cancer in southern Malawi; the effect of early detection on prognosis" – breast cancer outcomes in southern Malawi, with a focus on early detection and prognosis.
  • Mari Eskild Rasmussen: "BCL2 expression as a marker of endocrine sensitivity in hormone receptor positive breast cancer" - molecular markers for endocrine treatment response in breast cancer.
