Medicine is changing rapidly. New technologies, reforms and increased expectations are putting the health service under pressure – while many health workers describe a working day characterized by fragmentation and limited room for action. What does this do to our understanding of responsibility, and to the professional role we are being trained to perform?
May 11–12, 2026, the Philosophical Policlinic invites you to the seminar "The role of the doctor in motion" at Alrek Health Center. The physician role is used as an introduction, but the topics concern everyone who works in structures where demands for efficiency meet the need for reflection.
The seminar addresses questions such as:
- When is responsibility reduced to delivering quickly – and what is lost?
- When is it legitimate to slow down, ask questions, or challenge direction?
- How do management logics and measurement systems affect our understanding of "good work"?
- What happens to professional responsibility when the room for action is perceived as small?
- How do we ourselves contribute to maintaining structures we experience as problematic?
Through short lectures, workshops and conversations, we examine how responsibility is actually practiced – and how this shapes the role of the profession in the future.
