Visit from Lausanne: Two exciting seminars March 16–17

Next week, K2 and the Mohn Center will be visited by two very strong researchers from the University of Lausanne. Both will be holding seminars on groundbreaking methods in genetics and precision medicine — including a Nature publication in which we are co-authors.

Monday 16 March at 11.15–12.00 – Auditorium 1, Glasblokkene

Zoltán Kutalik: Nature’s randomized trials: genetic perturbations of biomarkers and disease Etter seminaret serveres lett lunsj.

Kutalik vil «show how different approaches to biomarker discovery can pinpoint drug targets» He is a leading statistical geneticist with over 250 publications and broad international experience.

Tuesday 17 March at 10.15–11.00 – BB‑auditorium 4

Robin Hofmeister: Detecting parent-of-origin genetic effects without parental genomes Coffee/tea and biscuits after the seminar.

Hofmeister presents his recent Nature study, in which they «identified over 30 parent-of-origin effects, many of them bipolar» The method makes it possible to detect such effects in biobank data without parental genomes.
