The University Museum will celebrate its 200th anniversary in 2025.
This event is part of the anniversary celebration, and part of the collaboration with the Bergen International Film Festival (BIFF).
We invite employees and students to watch the film "Archive of the Future" – a film about the Natural History Museum in Vienna, which also

Before the film, we will receive an introduction from Kari Loe Hjelle, director of the University Museum in Bergen.

This enchanting documentary takes us inside one of the world's largest natural history museums. The Naturhistorisches Museum in Vienna is not only an exceptionally beautiful museum building full of rare animals and remarkable creatures, it is also a unique research institution that produces knowledge in a wide range of fields.
In ARCHIVE OF THE FUTURE we meet some of the museum's many employees, and follow the daily work of mounting dinosaur skeletons, cataloging butterflies and other small and large tasks that help to influence how we relate to nature. Over 200 years, the museum's remarkable collection has increased in size and diversity, and today no one has a complete and complete overview of what is hidden in its drawers and cabinets. This is one of the keys to the museum's social benefit – because if history has taught us one thing, it is that no one can predict what kind of knowledge will be useful tomorrow.
