[:no]I disse dager kan vi lese om dansk
e og finske universitet som må redusere sine budsjett med 5-10% og si opp ansatte i hundrevis. I Norge er situasjonen heldigvis en annen. UiB har fått redusert sitt budsjett med 70-100 millioner kroner som ledd i regjeringens effektiviseringskutt. Dette utgjør promille av det totale budsjettet. Men likevel er det grunn til å se på hvordan vi driver virksomheten vår. UiB har oppnevnt en «Styringsgruppe for utvikling av effektive og fremtidsrettede administrative og tekniske tjenester»
Det høres fryktelig kjedelig og byråkratisk og man kan fort tenke at dette angår ikke meg. Men det gjør det i høyeste grad. Eksempelvis ansettelsesprosedyrer, innkjøpsordninger, reiseregninger og utarbeidelse av eksamensoppgaver er noe vi alle styrer med i hverdagen. En sak er å gjøre disse ordningene billigere, men vel så viktig er det at kvaliteten på dem bedres. Derfor er arbeidet til denne styringsgruppen viktig, og vi kommer til å høre mer fra den etter hvert.
I mellomtiden går det mot påske. Nå gjelder det å lade batteriene enten det blir her eller der.

Per[:en]These days we learn about Danish and Finnish universities that have to cut their budgets by 5-10% and lay off hundreds of employees. Fortunately this is not the case in Norway. UoB has to reduce its budget by NOK 70-100 mill as part of the efficiency program of the government. This is just a very minor part of the budget. However, it may still be wise to assess the way the university is run. UoB has established a “Steering group for development of efficient and future-oriented administrative and technical services”.
This sounds very boring and bureaucratic, and we may think that this has nothing to do with me. But it does and to a great extent. For instance, recruitment procedures, travel documents and establishing exams are tasks we are all engaged in. More important than making these tasks cheaper, is to improve their quality. This is why the work of this steering group is important to all of us, and I am sure that we will hear more from it.
In the meantime Easter is coming up, and I hope that we can all relax and have a good time.
