Pliktarbeidstid for UiB-stipendiaterDutyhours for UiB fellows
Som kjent har UiB-stipendiater et fjerde år hvor de kan bli pålagt pliktarbeid. Denne pliktarbeidstiden disponeres av instituttet og ikke av den enkelte veileder. Dette kommuniseres ut til alle stipendiater og veiledere ved starten av stipendiatperioden. Instituttet bruker pliktarbeidstiden til oppgaver som blant annet K2Nytt-redaktør, websideteknikere, i arbeidsgrupper og undervisning. Det har vært en del spørsmål om hva hvis ikke instituttet har behov for arbeidskraften til stipendiaten? Da er det helt greit at denne brukes til det veileder og stipendiat måtte bli enig om. En oversikt laget av Kristian Jensen viser at mange UiB-stipendiatene bruker i hvert fall deler av pliktarbeidstiden sin til undervisning innen sitt fagområde. Dette gjelder særlig medisinske UiB stipendiater. Dette er selvsagt helt greit.

As you know PhD candidates financed by the University of Bergen has a fourth year in which duty work for the university can be required. This work is currently managed by the institute and not by the individual supervisor. Information about the required duty work is sent to all candidates and supervisors before the PhD period starts. Candidates can be given tasks like K2Nytt editing, web editing, and teaching. The institute has received questions like “what if the department does not have any available work?” In that case it is accepted that the student and supervisor come to agreement about suitable tasks. A survey made by Kristian Jensen shows that many UiB fellows use part of their duty work time to teach. This is particularly true when it comes to medical PhD fellows. This is certainly accepted.

Jeg heter Elin Netland Opheim, og overtar denne uken som redaktør i K2Nytt. Jeg har vært stipendiat ved K2 siden mars 2013, og jobber med prosjektet «Monitoring of thromboelastography, platelet function and platelet recovery in hemato-oncologic patients with thrombocytopenia». Jeg har arbeidsplass ved avdeling for immunologi og transfusjonsmedisin i laboratoriebygget, og kan ellers nås på e-post elin.opheim@uib.no.
My name is Elin Netland Opheim, and this week I take over as editor of «K2Nytt». I have been a PhD candidate since March 2013, working on the project «Monitoring of thromboelastography, platelet function and platelet recovery in hemato-oncologic patients with thrombocytopenia». Fakultetets dag 18. juniThe Facultuy Day June 18th
Torsdag 18. juni er det fakultetets dag, med utdeling av både forskings- og utdanningsprisar.
I år vil rektor også dele ut Falchs seniorpris her på fakultetet. Meir info her.
The Faculty Day will be held Thursday June 18th. There will be awarding of research and education prizes.
This year the principal of UiB will also award the Søren Falch Senior Prize here at the faculty.
