Invitation to the 12th basic confocal course at MIC
Dear all!
MIC is happy to announce our 12th confocal course. The course is aimed at those of you who want to learn how to use a confocal microscope and will help you get started in the field of confocal imaging either you use the equipment at MIC or at your local institution. The principles of confocal imaging and the parameters to be aware of to be able to acquire the optimal images are the same regardless of which imaging system you use.

Håper dere alle har hatt det bra siden sist og fått en velfortjent hvil, og vel møtt i det nye året. Denne spalten avsluttet fjoråret med blant annet å nevne at det i år er tid for ny strategiplan for K2. Forskningsgruppelederne, instituttrådet og representanter for ulike stillingskategorier på instituttet har i går og i dag vært samlet for å diskutere ny strategiplan for de neste tre årene. Den nye planen må ta hensyn til UiB sitt overordnete strategidokument, fakultetet sine planer og også skjele til HUS sin strategi.
Krav for K2 sin strategiplan er at målene er spesifikke, målbare, ambisiøse, realistiske og tidfestete. Vi vil søke å lage en plan på bare en side slik at den faktisk vil bli lest og oppfattet, og ikke minst tatt hensyn til. Når utkastet er bearbeidet noe mer, vil det bli presentert i K2Nytt for kommentarer før planen blir endelig vedtatt av instituttrådet.

I hope you have had a pleasant rest during Christmas and New Year’s Eve. The previous editorial mentioned that it is time for a new strategy plan for K2. The last two days the chairs of the research groups, the institute council, as well as representatives for various groups at the institute have been assembled to discuss a new strategy for K2. The new plan has to take into account the overall strategy documents of the university and the faculty, and also that of the university hospital.
The goals of the new strategy plan should be specific, measureable, ambitious, realistic and achievable within a given time. We will try to make a one page plan so that it is easy to understand and will be taken into account. When the draft of the plan is ready it will be presented in K2Nytt for comments from you. The final version will be approved by the Institute council.

We present Dag Harald Skutlaberg, PhD Student at Department of Clinical Science.
Dag Harald started working on his PhD project in January 2016 under supervision of Steinar Skrede (main supervisor), Harald Wiker (co-supervisor) and Haima Mylvaganam (external supervisor MIA/HUS). If anyone wants to say hello, you will find him on the 5th floor in the lab building.[:]
