\"Eystein<\/a>Eksamen er avsluttet, disputaser holdt og sommerferien st\u00e5r for d\u00f8ren for de fleste av oss. Jeg vil p\u00e5 vegne av ledergruppen takke instituttets medarbeidere for innsatsen denne v\u00e5ren. Vi har undervist, publisert og utviklet fagene vi representerer. Alt dette er avhengig av at daglige rutiner fungerer. B\u00e5de administrasjonen og undervisningsseksjonen har bidratt mye til at ting glir lettere. Ikke minst har v\u00e5re glade gutter Klaus og Lars i K2- ekspedisjonen bidratt til dette.
\n\u00d8konomien har kommet p\u00e5 rett kj\u00f8l selv om den er stram og vi m\u00e5 avsette midler til nedbetaling av gjeld. Vi har funnet rom til at mer av midlene til PHD og postdokstipendiater g\u00e5r uavkortet til forskningsgruppene. Samtidig ligger det an til at om lag halvparten av stillingene som blir ledige ikke fornyes. Derfor vil rekrutteringsprosessen vi har hatt i v\u00e5r v\u00e6re viktig for fremtidige prioriteringer av knappe stillingsressurser.
\nEksistensgrunnlaget v\u00e5rt er undervisning av studenter p\u00e5 profesjonsstudiene og i bachelor og masterprogrammene. Ledelsen vil arbeide med undervisningen i h\u00f8st og vil komme med flere konkrete tiltak for \u00e5 heve kvaliteten. Et av dem er K2 sin undervisningspris som utlyses i dette nummeret av K2-nytt. Mer om dette blir presentert p\u00e5 undervisningsseminaret 17. september der alle K2-undervisere forventes \u00e5 delta.

\nEystein\"Eystein<\/a>Exams are over, public defenses completed, and a long summer vacation is awaiting most of us. On behalf of the leader group, I would like to thank the institute’s employees for their continuous efforts to teach, publish and develop the academic disciplines they represent. For all of this to run smoothly, we must have daily routines that functioning. Both the administration and the study section are continuously working to improve these routines to make life easier for you. Klaus and Lars in the K2-reception are acknowledged for always helping out with all kinds of small and big jobs.<\/p>\n

We can now report half way into 2014 that the K2 budget is in balance, although still very tight as we have to set aside funds pay debts from 2013. Despite these difficulties we will be able to allocate more funds to the PhD and postdocs. If the current situation prevails, we will be able to renew about 50% of vacant positions. The recruitment process we have had this spring will provide the priorities for future recruitment.<\/p>\n

The basis of our existence is the teaching of students enrolled in the professional studies and in the bachelor and master programs. We now have a special focus on teaching and will propose several actions in order to enhance teaching quality. One such action is K2’s teaching award, which is announced in this issue of K2nytt. Other efforts will be presented and discussed at the teaching seminar scheduled for September 17, where all K2-lecturers are expected to participate.
\nHowever, first and foremost I hope everyone enjoys a nice summer vacation<\/p>\n
