Derfor har ledelsen satt i gang en rekke tiltak som vil f\u00e5 konsekvenser for din arbeidshverdag. I en slik situasjon kan fort bli krevende for \u00e5 bruke et politikernes fovorittuttrykk, men da er det ekstra viktig \u00e5 identifisere og utnytte de mulighetene som finnes.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">Det store bildet er at norsk undervisningssektor ser ut til \u00e5 bli gradvis nedbygget over tid, men kanskje ikke like mye i sektorene helse og medisin der det vil bli behov for mange hender i framtiden. S\u00e5 er vi heller ikke alene. Reduserte ressurser er noe alle universitetene m\u00e5 takle og da gjelder det som alltid \u00e5 v\u00e6re blant de beste i klassen.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">Men hva inneb\u00e6rer det for K2? De neste punktene oppsummerer noen av de tiltakene ledelsen arbeider med:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Arealreduksjon<\/strong>. K1 og K2 arbeider med \u00e5 redusere sitt areal i Laboratoriebygget med ca 400m2 for \u00e5 spare husleie. De involverte gruppene jobber sammen med ledelsen for \u00e5 f\u00e5 til l\u00f8sninger som ikke skader forskningsaktiviteten og vi h\u00e5er denne prosessen kan ferdigstilles i l\u00f8pet av august.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Kjernefasilitetene<\/strong> v\u00e5re er sv\u00e6rt viktig infrastruktur for forskningen og er trolig ofte avgj\u00f8rende for at vi f\u00e5r forskningsmidler. K2 har mange slike fasiliteter og alle g\u00e5r med underskudd som til sammen utgj\u00f8r et stort problem. Vi m\u00e5 derfor vurdere \u00e5 omstrukturere, flytte, evt legge ned kjernefasiliteter som ikke er kritiske.<\/li>\n<li><strong>0-dekningsbidragsprosjekter<\/strong> er en velsignelse, men ogs\u00e5 et problem fordi e belaster fellesskapet. K2 har sv\u00e6rt mange store prosjekter i denne kategorien og de bidrar til underskuddet. Inntil n\u00e5 har vi hatt gaveforsterkningsmidler for \u00e5 b\u00f8te p\u00e5 dette, men n\u00e5 er denne ordningen avviklet. Vi arbeider med budsjettering slik at vi kan redusere underskuddet i slike prosjekter, blant annet med frikj\u00f8p av prosjektmedarbeidere. Enn s\u00e5 lenge har vi ikke sagt nei til slike prosjekter, men det kan bli en realitet i framtiden.<\/li>\n<li>Effektivisere <strong>undervisningen<\/strong>: Studenttallet \u00f8ker, men antall undervisere blir f\u00e6rre og m\u00e5 undervise mer. I samarbeid med studieadministrasjonen jobber vi med \u00e5 f\u00e5 bedre oversikt over undervisningen og hvem som kn bidra. Vi m\u00e5 v\u00e6re villig til \u00e5 tenke nytt. Kanskje du m\u00e5 undervise et felt du ikke er superspesialist p\u00e5, kanskje m\u00e5 et fagmilj\u00f8 endre studieplanen slik at undervisningen effektiviseres med nye hjelpemidler. Kanskje skal det innf\u00f8res mer uketjeneste p\u00e5 avdelingene. Her blir dialogen med helseforetakene viktig for \u00e5 finne gode ordninger.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Samme folk, nye oppgaver<\/strong>: Vi starter i juni en kartlegging av kompetanse blant det tekniske personalet og PhD\/postdoktorer med tanke p\u00e5 administrative oppgaver. Vi trenger folk til \u00e5 bist\u00e5 med arrangementer, disputaser og annet arbeid, p\u00e5 frivillig basis.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00c5 snu \u00f8konomien krever at alle er med p\u00e5 dugnaden. Vi har tatt opp dette i ulike fora, men forel\u00f8pig har engasjementet v\u00e6rt heller labert. Therefore, the management has initiated several measures that will affect your workday. In such situations, it can often be challenging, to use a favorite expression of politicians, but it is crucial to identify and seize the opportunities that exist.<\/p>\n<p>The broader picture indicates that the Norwegian education sector is gradually being downsized over time, though perhaps not as much in the health and medicine sectors, where many hands will be needed in the future. We are not alone in this; reduced resources are something all universities must cope with, and as always, it\u2019s important to be among the best.<\/p>\n<p>What does this mean for K2? The following points summarize some of the measures management is working on:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Space Reduction<\/strong>: K1 and K2 are working to reduce their area in the Laboratory Building by about 400m\u00b2 to save on rent. The involved groups are collaborating with management to find solutions that do not harm research activities, and we hope this process can be completed by the end of August.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Core Facilities<\/strong>: Our core facilities are crucial infrastructure for research and are often essential for securing research funding. K2 has many such facilities, all running at a deficit, which collectively poses a significant problem. We must, therefore, consider restructuring, relocating, or possibly shutting down non-critical core facilities.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Zero-Overhead Projects<\/strong>: While these projects are beneficial, they also pose a problem as they burden the collective resources. K2 has many large projects in this category, contributing to the deficit. Until now, we have had matching funds to mitigate this, but this scheme has been discontinued. We are working on budgeting to reduce deficits in such projects, including freeing up project staff. So far, we have not declined such projects, but it could become a reality in the future.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Efficient Teaching<\/strong>: The number of students is increasing, but the number of teachers is decreasing, requiring more teaching from fewer staff. In collaboration with the study administration, we are working to get a better overview of teaching responsibilities and who can contribute. We need to be open to new ideas; perhaps you will need to teach a subject you are not a super specialist in, or perhaps an academic environment needs to change the curriculum to make teaching more efficient with new tools. Introducing more weekly duties in the departments might also be necessary. Here, dialogue with healthcare institutions will be crucial to find good arrangements.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Same People, New Tasks<\/strong>: Starting in June, we will map the competencies of technical staff and PhD\/postdocs with an eye on administrative tasks. We need people to assist with events, defenses, and other work on a voluntary basis.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Turning the economy around requires everyone to contribute. We have discussed this in various forums, but so far, the engagement has been rather low.
