[:no]\"Eystein<\/a>V\u00e5r aprilsnarr \u00abVil gj\u00f8re K2 internasjonal\u00bb ble ganske vellykket. Mange syntes det var en artig sp\u00f8k, andre meldte at de syntes ideen faktisk var veldig god og ville v\u00e6re med. Derfor vil vi n\u00e5 vurdere forslaget – seri\u00f8st denne gangen. Jeg kan berolige alle med at bes\u00f8ket p\u00e5 et \u00abeliteuniversitet\u00bb p\u00e5 Hawaii ikke er med i planen, men instituttledelsen vil i l\u00f8pet av 2016 bes\u00f8ke UiB sitt nye kontor i Brussel.<\/p>\n

Lederen for kontoret som er et samarbeid med NTNU og SINTEF, er nylig ansatt og heter Kristof Vlaeminck. Vlaeminck har erfaring fra b\u00e5de forskning og forskningsst\u00f8tte og er for tiden nasjonalt kontaktpunkt for FP7 og Horisont 2020 samt belgisk delegat til Horisont 2020 sin programkomit\u00e9 for fagomr\u00e5det \u00abSecure Societies\u00bb.<\/p>\n

EU-kontoret har ambisjoner om \u00e5 holde UiB oppdatert om den forskningspolitiske utviklingen i EU, samt \u00e5 v\u00e6re en konkret hjelp til forskere som \u00f8nsker \u00e5 bygge nettverk eller etablere konsortier. De har ogs\u00e5 m\u00f8telokaler som kan benyttes av UiB-forskere. Vlaeminck vil bes\u00f8ke UiB de neste ukene, forh\u00e5pentligvis ogs\u00e5 v\u00e5rt institutt slik at vi kan f\u00e5 «first hand» kunnskap om hvordan vi best kan utnytte denne muligheten.<\/p>\n

Forskningsavdelingen p\u00e5 UiB prioriterer internasjonalt nettverksarbeid h\u00f8yt og vil kunne tilby st\u00f8tte til \u00e5 etablere kontakter og skrive s\u00f8knader. Rent konkret sendte K2 en COST action s\u00f8knad til s\u00f8knadsfristen n\u00e5 i april, der Forskningsavdelingen spilte en sv\u00e6rt sentral rolle i skriveprosessen.<\/p>\n

K2 gj\u00f8r det bra p\u00e5 den internasjonale arenaen allerede, blant annet synliggjort gjennom mange publikasjoner i de aller h\u00f8yst rangerte tidsskriftene som New England Journal of Medicine, Nature og Science de siste par \u00e5rene. De illustrerer betydningen av internasjonale nettverk og hvordan vi kan bruke disse til \u00e5 bli internasjonalt ledende.<\/p>\n

Til slutt, vi vil benytte handlingsrommet til en ny forskningsr\u00e5dgiver, ikke til \u00e5 reise til Hawaii\u2026<\/p>\n

Eystein[:en]Our April Fool joke\"Eystein<\/a> «Will make K2 international» was quite successful. Many thought the\u00a0joke was funny, others reported that the idea was actually very good and wanted to join. Therefore, we will now consider the proposal – seriously this time. I can reassure everyone that the visit to an «elite university» in Hawaii is\u00a0not included in the plan, but the department management will during 2016 visit UoBs new office in Brussels.<\/p>\n

The head of the office, that is a collaboration with NTNU and SINTEF, is newly employed and his name is Kristof Vlaeminck. Vlaeminck has experience from both research and research funding and is currently national contact point for FP7 and Horizon 2020 and the Belgian delegate to the Horizon 2020’s program committee for the discipline «Secure Societies».<\/p>\n

The EU office has ambitions to keep UoB updated on the research developments in the EU, as well as being of concrete assistance to researchers who want to build networks or establish consortiums. They also have meeting rooms that can be used by researchers from UoB. The next few weeks Vlaeminck will visit UoB, and hopefully also our department, so that we can get «firsthand» knowledge of how best to utilize this opportunity.<\/p>\n

The research department at UoB prioritises international networking and will provide support to researchers who want to establish contacts and write applications. Concretely K2 sent a COST action application\u00a0this April, and the research department played a very central role in the writing process.<\/p>\n

K2 is doing well in the international arena already, partly visible through numerous publications in very highly rated journals like the New England Journal of Medicine, Nature and Science in recent years. This illustrates the importance of international networks and how we can use these to become internationally leading.<\/p>\n

Finally, we will use the leeway to employ a new research advisor, not to travel to Hawaii …<\/p>\n
