Jeg har hatt gleden av \u00e5 lese rapportene som bekrefter at de ble tatt godt vare p\u00e5 gjennom hele kjeden av helsepersonell som de kom borti: port\u00f8ren som viste rett vei i tunnelen, bioingeni\u00f8ren som t\u00e5lmodig forklarte at akkurat dette apparatet m\u00e5lte blodprosent, sykepleieren som passet p\u00e5 studenten som nesten besvimte p\u00e5 unders\u00f8kelsesrommet, alle legene som forklarte hvorfor de sa og gjorde alt i l\u00f8pet av en hel arbeidsdag.<\/p>\n<p>\u00c5 f\u00e5 sitt f\u00f8rste innblikk i en sykehushverdag , observere masse god samhandling og at vi alle har v\u00e5r plass i diagnostikk- og behandlingskjeden, har gitt dem viktige forsmak p\u00e5 senere legeliv. Deltagende observasjon av lege-pasientm\u00f8ter uten at det kreves direkte faglig l\u00e6ring, gir mulighet for \u00e5 f\u00e5\u00a0 gode rollemodeller; dette er profesjonalitetsbygging!<\/p>\n<p>\u00c5 f\u00e5 nesen opp av b\u00f8kene og inn p\u00e5 vakt- og pasientrom har vekket motivasjon; de ser at de trenger ogs\u00e5 den basale kunnskap for \u00e5 forst\u00e5 komplekse medisinske tilstander.<\/p>\n<p>At de samme studenter skal tilbake p\u00e5 din avdeling gir trygghet for dem og oss. Det gir ogs\u00e5 en mulighet for den enkelte students lokale veileder \u00e5 f\u00f8lge nettopp henne\/ham over tid. Da kan man ogs\u00e5 lettere fange opp hvis man ser det \u201dbutter\u201d b\u00e5de mhp faglig tilegning men ogs\u00e5 ved personlige vansker.<\/p>\n<p>Studentene beskriver en lang rekke av hyggelige og ivaretakende arbeidsplasser. Det er jo f\u00f8rst og fremst godt for oss som arbeider der hver dag. I have had the pleasure of reading their reports, which confirm that they were well taken care of by the entire chain of healthcare professionals that they met: the porter who showed them the right way through the tunnel, the biomedical laboratory scientist who patiently explained that this particular instrument measured hemoglobin, the nurse who looked after the student who nearly fainted in the examination room and all the doctors who explained why they said and did everything during an entire workday.<\/p>\n<p>Getting this first insight into a day at a hospital, observing lots of good interaction and seeing that we all have our place in the diagnostic and treatment chain have given them an important insight into the life of a doctor. Observation of the doctor-patient meetings without the requirement of direct academic learning provides an opportunity for good role models; this is building professionalism!<\/p>\n<p>Getting their noses out of the books and into the staff and patient rooms has aroused motivation; they see that also basic knowledge is necessary to understand complex medical conditions.<\/p>\n<p>The fact that the same students will be back at your department, brings confidence for both them and us. It also provides an opportunity for the individual student&#8217;s local supervisor to follow her \/ him over time. In that situation it will also be easier to see if a student struggles, either with acquiring academic knowledge or with personal problems.<\/p>\n<p>The students describe a wide range of pleasant workplaces that take good care of the workers, which is primarily a benefit for us who work there every day.
