The Hormone Laboratory celebrates 60 years!<\/strong><\/h3>\n <\/p>\n

Hormonlaboratoriet ved Haukeland universitetssjukehus er landets eldste spesiallaboratorium for hormonanalyser i Norge. If\u00f8lge Universitet i Bergens historie (bind 2, Torstein I. Bertelsen, \u00abEtableringen av fakultet og det medisinske studium\u00bb, s. 287\u2013288) ble Hormonlaboratoriet opprettet i 1954 i lokaler p\u00e5 Kvinneklinikken, Haukeland sjukehus, med Karl F. St\u00f8a som sjef. I et s\u00e6rtrykk skrevet av Nils Normann i forbindelse med 32-\u00e5rsjubileet for Hormonlaboratoriet ved Aker universitetssykehus, ble det referert til et notat av J\u00f8rgen Herman Vogt, som beskrev etableringen av et hormonlaboratorium ved Haukeland sykehus i 1952 (kommunisert av Ole Myking og Thor Thorsen). Vi kom dermed frem til \u00e5 legge 60-\u00e5rsjubileet for Hormonlaboratoriet til 2013.<\/p>\n
Avdelingen har per i dag 46 ansatte, hvorav omkring halvparten er knyttet til rutinedrift og den andre halvparten til forskning. Hvert \u00e5r utf\u00f8res omkring 600 000 hormonanalyser, og av disse blir vel 300 000 pr\u00f8ver analysert ved kjernelaboratoriet knyttet til Laboratorium for klinisk biokjemi (TSH, fritt T4 og hCG), men Hormonlaboratoriet har det medisinske ansvaret for alle hormonanalysene. De siste \u00e5rene har vi ogs\u00e5 brukt mye ressurser p\u00e5 kvalitet og akkreditering, og vi har som m\u00e5l \u00e5 bli akkrediterte hos Norsk Akkreditering (NA) i l\u00f8pet av f\u00e5 \u00e5r.<\/p>\n
V\u00e5r forskningsaktivitet er f\u00f8rst og fremst knyttet til fedme og diabetes, brystkreft og endokrin behandling samt analyser av steroider p\u00e5 LC-MS\/MS. Vi er spesielt interessert i \u00e5 identifisere biomark\u00f8rer som kan predikere sykdom og behandlingsrespons.<\/p>\n
Den 13. november markerte vi v\u00e5rt 60-\u00e5rs jubileum i 2. etasje p\u00e5 Laboratoriebygget. Det ble en sv\u00e6rt hyggelig markering med flotte taler og god servering. Hormonlaboratoriet er en sprek og oppeg\u00e5ende seksti\u00e5ring som st\u00e5r foran mange nye spennende oppgaver og utviklingsmuligheter.<\/p>\n

\napproximately 300 000 samples are analyzed at the core laboratory under Laboratory for Clinical Biochemistry
\n(TSH, free T4 and hCG), but the Hormone Laboratory has the medical responsibility for all hormone analyses. In
\nthe latter years we have also used a lot of resources on quality and accreditation, and our goal is to become accredited
\nat Norsk Akkreditering (NA) within a few years.<\/p>\n
Our research activity is first and foremost related to obesity, breast cancer and endocrine treatment as well as analyses
\nof steroids on LC-MS\/MS. We are especially interested in identifying biomarkers which may predict disease and treatment response.<\/p>\n
On November 13th we celebrated our 60th anniversary on the 2. floor of the Laboratory Building. This was a very
\nnice event with great speeches and good food. The Hormone Laboratory is a vigorous and upstanding sixty year-old
\nfacing many new and exciting challenges and opportunities for development.<\/p>\n
