Summer is approaching, and a familiar sign of this is that many students are finishing their semester\u2014not just this semester, but their entire studies! At SUS in Stavanger, the Medical Daculty and Stavanger University Hospital have together marked that the first cohort of \u201cVestlandslegen\u201d from the 2020 medical program has graduated and can begin their careers as physicians. It is a major milestone, even though the number of students was relatively small.The celebration was dignified, elegant, and well-executed, with significant contributions from satisfied students. They described a high academic standard and a strong social environment - it is easy to think back to how enjoyable it was to be a student oneself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is also great for the hospital, which has demonstrated that the program has worked very well, and the contribution to educational needs is warranted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


Both education and research are important. Last Monday, we held an information meeting about the Western Norway Regional Health Authority (Helse Vest) call for research funding, with an application deadline of September 15. There are both new procedures and opportunities for what is now called research fellowships (formerly postdocs) and for open project funding. Anyone with at least a 20% hospital position can apply independently, while applicants from the university side are required to have an affiliation agreement with a health trust in the region. It might be wise to get started before the holidays?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
