Yet too few donate. Now the Blood Bank at Haukeland is encouraging everyone who can to register as a blood donor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2013 The need for blood never takes a break. A single blood donor can help save up to three lives, says the Blood Bank.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Why give blood?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Blood cannot be made artificially \u2013 it must come from humans.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The donation usually takes less than an hour.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You get a health check every time you donate.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It is completely safe, and the body quickly replenishes its blood supply.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Who can become a blood donor?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Most healthy people between the ages of 18 and 65 can donate blood. The first step is to register and complete a simple health screening. The blood bank will then assess whether you can be approved as a donor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>How to register<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>You can register as a blood donor at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rodekors.no\/gi-blod\/\">giBlod.no<\/a>, or contact the Blood Bank at Haukeland directly to make an appointment. New donors are especially welcome.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2013 We are completely dependent on people coming forward.
