Jeg underviser studentene i Vestlandslegen i palliasjon i deres 7.semester. Palliasjon er plassert sammen med onkologi og hematologi, og i november hadde vi f\u00f8rste kull med 8 studenter. Jeg hadde da et to-dagers palliasjonsseminar med forelesninger, diskusjoner, gruppeoppgaver og refleksjon, med vekt p\u00e5 det tverrfaglige perspektivet som er essensielt i palliasjon. Studentene fikk m\u00f8te flere fagpersoner, som leger, fysioterapeuter og sykehusprest. Vi bes\u00f8kte ogs\u00e5 Boganes lindrende enhet som drives av Stavanger kommune.<\/p>\n

I november 2024 kommer kull nr 2, visstnok med nesten 20 studenter. S\u00e5 det blir spennende.<\/p>\n

Jeg har alltid likt \u00e5 undervise, og gj\u00f8r det mye ogs\u00e5 i min stilling som overlege, b\u00e5de innad p\u00e5 SUS og ut i tilh\u00f8rende kommuner. Jeg finner det veldig meningsfullt \u00e5 dele av min erfaring som b\u00e5de allmennlege og palliasjonslege, med de unge legene, og jeg h\u00e5per de kan f\u00e5 et innblikk i hvordan vi kan m\u00f8te pasienter og p\u00e5r\u00f8rende som hele mennesker. Jeg h\u00e5per ogs\u00e5 \u00e5 kunne formidle viktigheten av \u00e5 avst\u00e5 fra unyttig behandling i livets siste fase, og at det \u00e5 gi god lindring er verdifullt i seg selv, selv om pasientene ikke blir friske.[:en]Hello dear colleagues at Clinical Science,<\/p>\n

I teach students in Vestlandslegen in palliative care during their 7th semester. Palliative care is grouped with oncology and hematology, and in November, we had the first batch of 8 students. I conducted a two-day palliative care seminar with lectures, discussions, group tasks, and reflection, emphasizing the interdisciplinary perspective essential in palliative care. Students had the opportunity to meet various professionals, including doctors, physiotherapists, and hospital chaplains. We also visited the Boganes Palliative Care Unit operated by the Stavanger municipality.<\/p>\n

In November 2024, the second batch is expected with nearly 20 students. It will be exciting.<\/p>\n

I have always enjoyed teaching, and I do it extensively in my role as a senior consultant, both within SUS and in associated municipalities. I find it very meaningful to share my experience as both a general practitioner and a palliative care physician with young doctors, and I hope to provide insights into how we can approach patients and their families as whole individuals. I also hope to convey the importance of refraining from unnecessary treatment in the final stages of life and emphasize that providing effective relief is valuable in itself, even if patients do not recover.[:]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
