Du har sikkert sett at det bygges<\/a> nytt p\u00e5 toppen av Laboratoriebygget. Det nye bygget \u2013 enten det kalles Inkubatorbygget eller Innovasjonsenteret \u2013 er UiB og fakultetets mest synlige og konkrete satsing p\u00e5 innovasjon og kommersialisering av forskningsresultater. Rammer er bra, men viktigere er innholdet: gode ideer fra forskere som \u00f8nsker \u00e5 sette dem ut i livet. Parallelt med det fysiske bygger vi derfor ogs\u00e5 opp et internt st\u00f8tteapparat med spesialistkompetanse. MED har som f\u00f8rste fakultet egen innovasjonsr\u00e5dgiver, og fra 2021 f\u00e5r vi en til. Vi er sammen med Innovasjonlederen p\u00e5 instituttet (Emmet Mc Cormack), de f\u00f8rste hjelperne p\u00e5 veien mot selvg\u00e5ende selskap, IP-salg, eller en sosial innovasjon som endrer samfunnet.<\/p>\n Hva gj\u00f8r en innovasjonsr\u00e5dgiver? Det korte svaret er at vi pr\u00f8ver hjelpe med det som trengs. Jeg har 12 \u00e5rs erfaring fra oppstartsbedrift innen nanomaterialer hvor jeg har v\u00e6rt gjennom alt fra EU-s\u00f8knader (og rapportering) til produktutvikling (og sertifisering) til patentskriving (og Office actions) til investor-pitching (og business case) til utforming av samarbeidsavtaler, navigering av nye EU-direktiver og tilfeldig kontroll fra skattemyndighetene \u2013 men det siste kommer jeg ikke til \u00e5 hjelpe deg med.<\/p>\n Konkret kan jeg hjelpe med spissing av s\u00f8knader (spesielt impact og exploitation), spissing av ideer og en f\u00f8rste sondering av patenterbarhet (inkludert enkle patents\u00f8k) og kommersielt potensiale\/value proposition, mottak av DOFI<\/a>, og utforming av samarbeidsavtaler med eksterne partnere (spesielt IPR, secrecy og exit clauses). Jeg er ogs\u00e5 medansvarlig for undervisning i innovasjon og entrepren\u00f8rskap (ELMED223 og ad-hoc kurs), er fakultetets kontaktperson mot VIS og tjenestekj\u00f8psavtalen der, og er kontaktperson mot Forskning og innovasjonsavdelingen ved UiB og sykehusets innovasjonsavdeling p\u00e5 en rekke omr\u00e5der.<\/p>\n Det aller meste jeg gj\u00f8r g\u00e5r ut p\u00e5 \u00e5 vurdere ideer fra flere perspektiv enn det rent faglige \u2013 ikke minst fra brukerperspektivet og investorperspektivet, men ogs\u00e5 det \u2018Europeiske perspektivet\u2019 i Horizon Europe (som lanseres 26.oktober<\/a>!) og de strategiske tankene bak det store fokuset p\u00e5 innovasjon\/impact og samarbeid som vi ser i utlysningene.<\/p>\n Har du en god ide som du har lyst til \u00e5 se bli til noe? The new building \u2013 whether it is called the Incubator or the Innovation Center \u2013 is UiB and MED\u2019s most visible and concrete investment in innovation and commercialization of research results. Buildings are good, but activity is better: working with researchers who want to see their good ideas realized and making a difference. So in parallel with the physical construction we are also building a better support system with specialist competence. MED has \u2013 as the first faculty \u2013 a dedicated innovation advisor, and from 2021 we will get a second one. Together with the department Innovation leader (Emmet McCormack), we are the first helpers on the path towards sustainable company, IP license agreement or transformative social innovation.<\/p>\n But what does an Innovation advisor actually do? The short answer is that we try to help with whatever is needed. I have 12 years of experience from nanomaterial start-up and been through everything from EU applications (and reporting) to product development (and certification) to patent writing (and Office actions) to investor pitching (and business cases) to drafting cooperation agreements, navigating new EU directives and handling random audits from the tax authorities \u2013 but that last one I will not help you with.<\/p>\n Specifically I can help with focusing proposals (especially impact and exploitation), focusing and pitching business ideas, first assessment of patentability (including simple searches) and commercial potential\/value proposition, submitting DOFIs<\/a>, or advising on agreements (IPR, secrecy and exit clauses). I am also involved in teaching Innovation and Entrepreneurship, and am the faculty contact towards VIS (the TTO) and also a contact person towards UiB central research and innovation section (FIA) and the hospital innovation section.<\/p>\n Most of what I do is about evaluating ideas from more perspectives than the scientific one \u2013 most importantly user perspective and investor perspective, but also the \u2018European perspective\u2019 in Horizon Europe (launching 26.october!<\/a>) and the strategic thoughts behind the increased focus on innovation\/impact and cooperation in national and EU funding calls.<\/p>\n Do you have a good idea you want to grow to something?
