Hva karakteriserer milj\u00f8 med \u00f8kt risiko for seksuell trakassering: kj\u00f8nnsulikhet og maktubalanse samt midlertidige arbeidsforhold. Noen som kjenner seg igjen her? Mannlige professorer\/ledere\/l\u00e6rere og kvinnelige stipendiater\/underordnete\/studenter, gjerne ogs\u00e5 betydelig aldersforskjell mellom gruppene, dette er jo oss!<\/p>\n<p>Og vi er dessverre i \u00abgodt\u00bb selskap: s\u00f8k p\u00e5 <em>university<\/em> og <em>sexual harassment<\/em>, og det kommer rapporter fra universiteter i b\u00e5de Europa og USA. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/education\/2017\/mar\/05\/students-staff-uk-universities-sexual-harassment-epidemic\"><em>The Guardian<\/em><\/a> karakteriserte dette som \u00abat epidemic levels\u00bb i mars 2017.<\/p>\n<p>Hva regnes som seksuell trakassering? Generelt er trakassering gjentatte u\u00f8nskete handlinger over tid, eventuelt en enkelthandling som er alvorlig. Seksuell trakassering kan spenne fra seksuelle kommentarer\/plystring eller \u00abtafsing\u00bb til seksuell tiln\u00e6rming\/forslag til psykisk\/fysisk press for \u00e5 oppn\u00e5 seksuelle \u00abtjenester\u00bb. Ved et asymmetrisk arbeidsforhold, der en underordnet er spesielt avhengig av den overordnete (type veileder), er man s\u00e5rbar. Som overordnet har man spesielt ansvar for \u00e5 \u00abholde sin sti ren\u00bb, men som kolleger har vi faktisk ogs\u00e5 et ansvar for \u00e5 si fra om u\u00f8nsket adferd! Vi m\u00e5 alle bidra til en kultur der trakasserende kommentarer\/handlinger ikke er akseptert!<\/p>\n<p>Hva skal en s\u00e5 gj\u00f8re hvis det likevel oppst\u00e5r u\u00f8nskete situasjoner? Meld fra! \u2013 prim\u00e6rt til n\u00e6rmeste leder, men hvis dette er vanskelig, s\u00e5 kontakt annen leder eller verneombud (formelle henvendelser), alternativt tillitsvalgt eller bedriftshelsetjenesten for mer uformelle r\u00e5d\/hjelp. I Universitetets personalh\u00e5ndbok st\u00e5r f\u00f8lgende r\u00e5d hvis en opplever trakassering: lag dine egne notater over hva som skjedde, tid og sted, og hvordan du reagerte. Studenter f\u00e5r fra 1.1.2018 sin egen meldetjeneste ved UiB: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.uib.no\/foransatte\/105322\/si-fra-system-tilbakemeldinger-fra-studenter\">\u00abSifra\u00bb<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Selv om vi har lett for \u00e5 se vanskeligheter og mulige negative sider ved den n\u00e5 vedtatte begrensning i midlertidige ansettelser, s\u00e5 vil slikt stillingsvern v\u00e6re med \u00e5 forskyve asymmetrien\/maktubalansen i arbeidsforhold i rett retning. What characterizes an environment with increased risk of sexual harassment: gender inequality and power imbalance, as well as temporary working conditions. Anyone who recognizes this? Male Professors \/ Leaders \/ Teachers and Female Fellows \/ Subordinates \/ Students, adding a significant age difference between groups; this is us!<\/p>\n<p>Sadly, we are in &laquo;good&raquo; company: search for <em>university<\/em> and <em>sexual harassment<\/em>, and there are several reports from universities in both Europe and the United States. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/education\/2017\/mar\/05\/students-staff-uk-universities-sexual-harassment-epidemic\"><em>The Guardian<\/em><\/a> characterized this as &laquo;at epidemic levels&raquo; in March 2017.<\/p>\n<p>What is considered sexual harassment? In general, harassment is defined as repeated unwanted actions over time, or a single serious act. Sexual harassment can range from sexual commentaries \/ whistling or &laquo;pawing&raquo; to sexual advances \/ suggestions to psychologic \/ physical pressure to achieve sexual &laquo;favors&raquo;. In an asymmetric working relationship, where a subordinate is dependent specifically on the superior (such as a mentor), she is vulnerable. As a general, a superior has a special responsibility to &laquo;keep his path clean&raquo;, but as colleagues, we also have a responsibility to speak out if witnessing unwanted behavior! Every one of us should contribute to a culture where harassing comments \/ actions are not accepted.<\/p>\n<p>What to do if unwanted situations occur? Report! \u2013 primarily to your nearest leader, but if this is difficult, please contact a different superior or the formal human safety representative (\u201cverneombud\u201d) for formal inquiries, alternatively the union representative or the corporate health service for more informal advice \/ assistance. The University&#8217;s staff manual provides the following advice in case of harassment: make your own notes of what happened, time and place, and how you reacted. From 1.1.2018, students will have a specific report service at UiB: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.uib.no\/foransatte\/105322\/si-fra-system-tilbakemeldinger-fra-studenter\">&laquo;Sifra&raquo;<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Even though we tend to find the difficulties and possible negative aspects of the now implemented regulations limiting temporary employments, such job protection will help shift the asymmetry \/ power imbalance in working conditions in the right direction.
