[:no]\"Ultrafiolett<\/a><\/span>Mange av oss s\u00e5 hvordan Karsten Warholm ble verdensmester og vant 400 meter hekk i London onsdag. En fantastisk prestasjon som viser hvordan et talent kan, med systematisk arbeid, sette seg de h\u00f8yeste m\u00e5l, og n\u00e5 dem.<\/p>\n

La denne bragden v\u00e6re en inspirasjon for oss p\u00e5 K2. UiB er i likhet med Ulsteinvik ikke metropoler for vitenskap og idrett, men vi kan likevel levere prestasjoner i topp internasjonal klasse innen forskning, undervisning og formidling. Selv om Warholms suksess f\u00f8rst og fremst er hans egen fortjeneste, er den ogs\u00e5 et resultat av gode hjelpere og et tilrettelagt milj\u00f8 rundt. Derfor er det viktig universitetet sentralt, fakultetet og instituttet alle legger til rette for at talenter skal kunne utvikle seg og vise seg fram. K2 vil arbeide for at alle ved instituttet skal kunne bli blant de beste p\u00e5 sitt omr\u00e5de, og den nye instituttlederen vil v\u00e6re sentral i dette arbeidet.<\/p>\n

Da s\u00f8knadsfristen til stillingen som instituttleder gikk ut 4. august, hadde 4 godt kvalifiserte personer s\u00f8kt. N\u00e5 vil den sakkyndige komiteen ta fatt p\u00e5 arbeidet med \u00e5 finne fram til den best egnede s\u00f8keren som vi h\u00e5per kan ta fatt p\u00e5 arbeidet 1. september. Fram til da vil jeg lede instituttet.<\/p>\n

 [:en]\"Ultrafiolett<\/a>Many of us witnessed how Karsten Warholm became world champion and won 400 meters hurdle in London on Wednesday. An amazing achievement that shows how a talent can, with systematic work, set the highest goals and reach them<\/span><\/p>\n

Let this be an inspiration for us\u00a0at K2. UiB, like Ulsteinvik, is not the metropolis for science and sport, but we can still\u00a0deliever achievements in the top international\u00a0level in research, teaching and dissemination. Although Warholm’s success is first and foremost his own profit, it is also the result of good helpers and an organized environment. Therefore, it is important that the university, the faculty and the\u00a0department all make it possible for talent to develop and showcase. K2 will work for everyone at the department to be among the best in their area, and the new head of department will be central to this work.<\/span><\/p>\n

When the application deadline for the position as Head of Department expired on\u00a0August 4th, 4 highly qualified individuals had applied. Now the committee will look forward to finding the best suitable applicant, whom we hope to get to work on September 1st. Until then I will lead the Department.<\/p>\n
