[:no]\"R\u00e6der_portrett\"<\/a>Da m\u00e5 man starte med \u00e5 sette seg klart definerte m\u00e5l og definere en tidsramme. Som stipendiat er m\u00e5lene og tidsrammen kanskje klarest formulert: Man skal publisere minst tre artikler innenfor fagfeltet sitt og skrive en kappe innenfor doktorgradstiden. Det er kanskje mer uklart hva m\u00e5lene er hvis man er postdoktor eller yngre forsker som \u00f8nsker en vellykket forskerkarriere, men en venn i Boston pleide \u00e5 si at man innenfor postdoktortiden b\u00f8r pr\u00f8ve \u00e5 oppn\u00e5 f\u00f8lgende tre m\u00e5l: \u00e5 gjennomf\u00f8re et interessant og publiserbart eksperiment, \u00e5 oppn\u00e5\u00a0 en god artikkel, og \u00e5 oppn\u00e5 et eget grant. Han mente videre at disse tre m\u00e5lene var del av en syklus hvor de forsterket hverandres sjanse gjensidig for \u00e5 lykkes: Man f\u00e5r ikke grants uten artikler, og man f\u00e5r ikke artikler uten eksperimenter, og man f\u00e5r ikke gjennomf\u00f8rt eksperimenter uten noen form for finansiering.<\/p>\n

Et sted i syklusen m\u00e5 man imidlertid hoppe inn, og her h\u00e5per vi at et nytt tiltak fra instituttet kan komme til hjelp: Instituttet har definert sine m\u00e5l for bedre forskning i strategiplanen<\/a>, og i juni ansetter vi en egen forskningsr\u00e5dgiver, Amra Grudic-Feta som skal hjelpe oss \u00e5 n\u00e5 flere av disse m\u00e5lene. Det er spesielt fire av m\u00e5lene hvor hun i s\u00e6rlig grad skal bidra:<\/p>\n

– i det strukturerte opplegget for s\u00f8knadsskriving (F2),<\/p>\n

– i oppf\u00f8lging av utlysninger samt publisering av disse i K2Nytt (F2),<\/p>\n

– som ressursperson som kan bidra til karrierer\u00e5dgivning og karriereutvikling i forskerutdannelsen (RIK1), og<\/p>\n

– som kontaktpunkt (katalysator) som kan hjelpe forskere p\u00e5 K2 med \u00e5 navigere slik at man finner hvor \u00f8nsket tyngre utstyr og ekspertise befinner seg innenfor instituttet (RIK2).<\/p>\n

Helge[:en]\"R\u00e6der_portrett\"<\/a>First you have to define your specific scientific goals and a reasonable time frame. The goals and time frame are perhaps most clearly formulated for the graduate students: One need to publish at least three papers within one\u00b4s field of interest and write a Thesis within the doctoral time frame. It is perhaps less clear what the goals are, if you are postdoctoral fellow or a younger researcher who would like a successful career in science, but a friend in Boston used to say that within the postdoctoral time period one should try to achieve the following three goals: to carry out interesting and publishable experiments, to publish a good paper, and obtain an independent grant. He also believed that these three goals were part of a cycle where they reinforced each other’s chance mutually: You do not get grants without papers, and you do not get papers without experiments and you do are not able to carry out experiments without any form of funding.<\/p>\n

Somewhere in the cycle, however, you need to jump in, and here we hope that a new initiative from the Department can come to your assistance: The Department has defined its goals for better research in the Strategy Plan<\/a>, and in June we will employ a research consultant, Amra Grudic-Feta, who will help us reach several of these goals. In particular, she will contribute towards four of the defined goals:<\/p>\n

– in the structured approach for writing grant applications (F2),<\/p>\n

– in follow-up of grant calls as well as publication of these in K2News (F2),<\/p>\n

– as a resource that can help career counseling and career research education (RIK1), and<\/p>\n

– as a contact point (catalyst) who may help scientists navigate to find the desired advanced equipment and expertise within the Department (RIK2).<\/p>\n
